The Joint Technical Commission of Salto Grande is a binational organization created by Argentina and Uruguay in order to make use of the rapids of the Uruguay River in Salto Grande.
It is located in the middle course of the Uruguay River, making use of a natural fall of ground called Santo Grande to generate hydroelectric power, upriver from the cities of Concordia (Argentina) and Salto (Uruguay).
The electric energy generated by the Power Station is meant to reach both countries through their interconnected systems, providing approximately 50% of the energy demand in the Uruguayan system and 7% in the Argentinean system, at one of the lowest rates in both electricity markets.
As provided by the 1946 founding Agreement of the Joint Technical Commission of Salto Grande, our goal is to make the most out of the natural resources in the Uruguay River by using state-of-the-art technical resources and a qualified staff holding to high quality standards, while protecting the environment and being socially responsible.
Public Relations is the area in charge of managing communications with strategic publics. Its main goal is to keep government and private entities, as well as different sectors in the civil society up to date.
